The Sri Lanka Cursillo Movement
50 Years of Cursillo (1964 - 2014)

We were also fortunate to address the Kandy Presbyterium on the invitation of His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Vianney Fernando, Bishop of Kandy and the Episcopal Patron of the Cursillo Movement on 29th October at the Retreat House, Lewella, to bring an awareness of the purpose and Method of the Cursillo Movement to provide a Christian Backbone to a society that is fast drifting away from God.

It was indeed a privileged moment as His Lordship himself was present and spoke of his own experience of the Movement and enthusiasm of our much loved late Rev. Fr. TheophaneWickremaratne to the gathering of priests present at this programme.

We were much impressed and thank God that some of the priests present showed a desire to follow the next 3-Day Weekend. We also felt that some of the priests who have followed the Cursillo Weekend earlier experienced a revival and it is our prayer and fervent hope that our visit will bring forth the desired fruits for the Diocese where the Movement was born in Sri Lanka 50 years ago. We also hope that key persons will be identified in the various environments who could be the leaven that will help in the renewal and revitalizing of the Movement in the Kandy Diocese.
