FELICITATION AWARDS FOR DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE SRI LANKA CURSILLO MOVEMENT
AT THE 49TH ANNUAL CONVENTION HELD ON  31st JANUARY 2016

 

The awards were presented to the following:

REV. FR. STEPHEN ABRAHAM OSB
Former Rector of St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota and a senior most Cursillista who followed the 1st Cursillo Weekend in 1964.  He has completed 50 years of priesthood and worked closely with Late Fr. Thophane Wickremaratne.  Fr Stephen is not present with us today due to ill health and his award will be collected by Fr. Woulston Fernando OSB  to be handed over to Fr. Abraham.

REV. FR. WOULSTON FERNANDO OSB
Fr. Woulston Fernando OSB is a contemporary of Late Fr. TheophaneWickremaratne OSB who brought the Cursillo Movement to the shores of Sri Lanka, receives this award as he too completed 50 years of his  priesthood and has been a veteran parish priest who has worked in all parts of the country. He helped the Cursillistas in their spiritual lives and served the movement as a prudent Spiritual Director.

REV. SR. MARY HILDA RGS
A veteran Cursillista herself, had worked withthe  Late Fr. TheophaneWickremartne, as a young Cursillista , being a member of the Good Shepherd Congregation. She was a Rectora at one time and was mentored by the Late Fr. Thophane as a Spiritual Daughter and who has completed 50 years of  ministry as a religious.

REV. SR. PETER JAYSINGHE
Rev. Sr. Peter Jayasinghe is a Sister of Missionaries of Charity.  She has completed 50 years of ministry as a Religious and has also been a Cursillista for many years.  She has worked as a Catechist and pastoral worker specially reaching out to the homeless.

MR. ELMO PERERA
A lawyer by profession, who has made a huge contribution to the Cursillo Movement as a Rector of Weekends and contributed richly with his ideas towards the legal affairs of the Cursillo Movement.  He is the father of 4 children of whom one serves as a religious of Franciscan Missionaries.

MRS. GLENCIE FERNANDO
The Cursillo Movement is delighted to felicitate Mrs. Glencie Fernando, a veteran Cursillista who has rectored many Weekends and served the Movement for many years.  Her very home has been a venue for a Cursillo Weekend and Cenacles of Prayer.  She is unable to be present today and the award will be collected by one of our Cursillistas to be handed over to her.

MR. JACOB BENJAMIN
He is also a veteran Cursillista from Mannar who followed the inaugural Weekend in Nanattan, Mannar.  He helped the Movement particularly when we launched the 1st Weekend for our Brothers/Sisters from India.  He has been our correspondent for Mannar and serves the Diocese in various capacities.

MRS. CLIVIE TAYLOR
Mr. Clivie Taylor is yet another veteran Cursillista from Kandy and has served the Movement as an active member and a strong anchor, Palanca person who has richly contributed her prayers and sacrifices for the growth of the Movement.  A lesser known fact is that she has served as Secretary to our Episcopal Patron in Kandy.  She too is indisposed and we will make arrangements to deliver her award.

MR. MILROY ANTHONISZ
Mr. MiroyAnthonisz is a Cursillista who has served in teams and weekends and who has been a creative and inspired member who contributed to many a convention with his ideas and wisdom.
